BEHIND EVERY GIRL SCOUT IS A GREAT LEADER!

A Dedication to Every Girl Scout Leader Every Where

September 30, 2002

Written By: Jayde

President & PR of Westmer Cadette Girl Scout Troop #3185

As the saying goes in Girl Scouts..."BEHIND EVERY GIRL SCOUT IS A GREAT LEADER" and I'm proud to say that Westmer Girl Scouts have had many great Leaders in the past and we some times take them for granted thinking they will always be there for us. They do their duties never expecting anything in return and we Girl Scouts sometimes taking from them...never thinking to give anything back. Girl Scout Leaders are very special and once in awhile you find some Leaders who are extra special. The Westmer Girl Scouts in Brownie Troop #1487, Junior & Senior Group Troop #5158 and Cadette Troop #3185 feel we have been extra blessed the last few years with our Five GREAT LEADERS!

We were suppose to do a tribute to these five Leaders at our Ceremony on Saturday September 28th but in all the confusion the tribute was accidently left out. We are very sorry and really regret leaving you out because without our Great Leaders where would we be? So we want to take a minute to let our Leaders and the world know how very special they are to us. Here is the Poetic Tribute that was suppose to be read at the ceremony:

To Our Wonderful Leaders

My Mom, Aunt Tina, Chrys, Jamie & Lisa

If I could catch a rainbow

If I could catch a rainbow
I would do it Just for you
And share with you Its beauty
On the days You're feeling blue

If I could build a mountain
You could call Your very own
A place to find serenity
A place to be alone

If I could Take your troubles
I would toss them In the sea
But all these things I'm finding
Are impossible for me

I cannot build a mountain
Or catch a rainbow fair
But let me be What I know best
A friend That's always there.

~*~

And that you have been.....Five of the greatest friends a Girl Scout could ever have! I know I represent all the Girl Scouts when I say THANKS to my Mom, Jamie, for all her faithful years of Service. She has put her heart and soul into Girl Scouts ever since I can remember. She alway says Girl Scouts are her life and no one but her family knows how true that really is.

THANKS to my Aunt Tina, for all the years she stood by and supported Mom as her Co-Leader, Partner and Sister. I know Mom really enjoyed working with you and appreciated all you did to help her! Thank you for being not only the Brownie Co-Leader but also the Cadette Co-Leader. I hope you decide to stick with us again this year because we all love working with you and I think Mom would be lost without her favorite sister by her side.

THANKS to Chrys and Jamie P2 for all your hard work and dedication to Girl Scouts. You are both kind of new to this and we all appreciate everything you've done for us this year and look forward to many more years with you as our New Co-Leaders.

And THANKS to Lisa! All the wonderful things you do for us and all the hard work and donations you've given to the Girl Scouts was greatly appreciated. We'll never forget anything that any of you have ever given us. We admire each and everyone of you for helping us to grow into stronger better women!

So on behalf of Girl Scouts all over the world we say to all the Great Leaders....THANK YOU FOR BEING THERE! And we have to ask....."Have You HUGGED your Girl Scout Leader today?

This article is dedicated to not only our Leaders but every Leader every where.....Keep up the Good work! We really do care even if we forget to say it sometimes! With Love ~ All the Girl Scouts

IN HONOR OF ALL MY GREEN ANGELS
(A special THANK YOU to CYNDY for the gift of this poem so many years ago)

THE GREEN ANGEL

I dreamed I went to heaven

and on the golden stair

I saw an angel dressed in green

with a halo in her hair

And she looked kinda funny

midst all the glorious white;

The others asked her jealously

what gave her such a right.

"I am a Girl Scout Leader;

I have no claim to fame;

But being a Girl Scout Leader

is more than just a name.

My jobs on earth were many;

Praises and thanks were few

I did more work in one day

than ten people ought to do.

I was a Ready Helper.

The best Home Nurse to be found.

I became an expert Discoverer

and a whiz at Art in the Round.

I helped girls develop values.

I taught them to dance and sing;

We learned to relate to others

While standing in our Friendship Ring.

I hiked the trails until my feet

could never win a race.

I sang the Brownie Smile Song

till the smile froze upon my face.

But still it was a lot of fun;

Life never was a bore.

You see...This role isn't really new to me,

I've been an angel before!"
